Taxes are complicated because we have made them that way. Over the years politicians have used the tax system to punish certain people or entities, and reward others. Taxes have been used to change behavior and engineer society. We must return to a simpler way of taxation, one that is equal, fair and friendly to people and business.
Minnesota also has a spending problem. We need to stop the increases in spending and find ways to serve the people
of this state in a fiscally responsible way. Often time we’ve left the issues that are most important to Minnesotans behind because we’ve lived omnibus bill to omnibus bill for so long. As Governor I would seek to replace this system so we can judge everything on it’s own individual merit. No more backroom deals that lead to large unpopular spending measures.
